Leica IIIc
A classic LTM rangefinder camera featuring a die-cast body and shutter speeds up to 1/1000s.
The Leica IIIc, produced between 1940 and 1951, introduced a die-cast body chassis, making it slightly longer and more rigid than its predecessors. This 35mm LTM rangefinder features a combined viewfinder and rangefinder housing, though they remain separate windows. It offers a shutter speed range from 1/1000s down to 1 second plus B and T.
On used IIIc models, 'chrome bubbling' or pitting on the top plate is a common cosmetic issue to look for. We check the shutter curtains for light leaks and ensure the curtains travel at the correct speed without capping. The rangefinder contrast is evaluated, as the internal half-mirror can dim over time. We also verify the operation of the diopter adjustment lever located under the rewind knob.
