The Pentax K1000 SE (Special Edition) is a variant of the legendary K1000 35mm film SLR. Mechanically identical to the standard model, the SE typically features a brown leatherette finish and a split-image focusing screen rather than the standard microprism spot, aiding more precise manual focusing. It is a purely mechanical camera, requiring a battery only for the simple needle-match light meter, making it a staple for photography students. On used examples, the light seals and mirror bumper foam are common failure points due to age and should be inspected for degradation.
