Leica M (Typ 240)
A 24-megapixel full-frame digital rangefinder with CMOS sensor, Live View, and M-mount compatibility.
The Leica M (Typ 240) marked the transition from CCD to a 24-megapixel CMOS sensor in the M-system. This change introduced Live View, 1080p video recording, and improved high-ISO performance to the digital rangefinder. It features a robust brass top and bottom plate and uses the larger BP-SCL2 battery for significantly improved battery life. The camera also supports an optional electronic viewfinder via the accessory port, aiding focus with wide-angle or telephoto lenses.
Check the rear display for scratches, as the Typ 240 uses Gorilla Glass but can still show wear. The brassing on the edges of the body is a common aesthetic occurrence that many users find desirable. SDS tests the rangefinder alignment at both infinity and close focus. Ensure the sensor is clean, as the introduction of Live View often leads to more frequent sensor exposure and potential dust accumulation. Check that the multi-function wheel operates without skipping.
