The Canon TX is a simplified, entry-level 35mm SLR based on the FTb chassis, produced primarily for export markets in the mid-1970s. It features the FD lens mount and a shutter speed range of 1/15 to 1/500th of a second plus Bulb. It includes a basic through-the-lens (TTL) center-weighted meter, providing a straightforward, no-frills experience for those learning manual film photography.
As with most cameras of this era, the light seals and mirror bumper foam frequently perish and require replacement. SDS ensures the shutter curtains are free from pinholes and that the mechanical timer functions correctly. The light meter is tested against a reference source, though users should note it originally required mercury batteries.
