The ZEISS 18mm f/2.8 Distagon T* is a manual-focus super-wide-angle lens designed for full-frame SLR cameras. Utilising a complex optical design with floating elements, it offers high contrast and excellent rectilinear correction, making it well-suited for architectural and landscape photography. The T* anti-reflective coating effectively manages flare and ghosting when shooting towards light sources.
On used examples, the manual focus ring should operate with a smooth, consistent resistance across the entire range. SDS checks the aperture blades for oil and ensures the mechanical linkage functions correctly on both ZE and ZF.2 versions. We also inspect the front and rear elements for scratches, as the bulbous front element is particularly exposed on wide-angle designs.
