Tamron SP AF 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro
A fast-aperture telephoto zoom lens for full-frame SLR cameras featuring a 1:3.1 macro magnification ratio.
The Tamron SP AF 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro is a fast-aperture telephoto zoom designed for full-frame SLR cameras. It features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the range and a minimum focusing distance of 0.95m, offering a 1:3.1 reproduction ratio for close-up work. Internal focusing ensures the lens length remains constant during operation. It is well-regarded for its optical sharpness and lightweight construction compared to equivalent OEM lenses.
When inspecting a used copy, check the AF/MF clutch mechanism for smooth operation, as these can become stiff over time. The external barrel is finished in a smooth matte coating which is prone to scuffs. SDS technicians verify the internal optics for dust or fungal growth and ensure the tripod collar locks securely. Note that this older model lacks image stabilisation and uses a micromotor for autofocus, which is slower and louder than modern USD drives.
