The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2 is a long-range telephoto zoom designed for wildlife and aviation photography. Improvements over the first generation include faster autofocus, enhanced Vibration Compensation, and a Flex Zoom Lock mechanism that allows the lens to be locked at any focal length. The optical design includes three LD (Low Dispersion) elements to minimise chromatic aberrations, and the exterior features a moisture-resistant construction. We thoroughly test the Flex Zoom Lock to ensure it holds securely and check the three VC modes for correct operation. The internal lens groups are inspected for dust, which can be common in large external-zooming lenses. We also verify the tripod collar rotates smoothly and locks tightly. Finally, the autofocus performance is tested, particularly at the 600mm end, to ensure it achieves sharp focus without hunting.
