The lens is capable of producing a very shallow depth of field, making it a preferred choice for portrait photographers using Sony SLT or DSLR bodies, or mirrorless users via an LA-EA series adapter. On the used market, the external finish on these lenses is prone to showing fine scratches on the metal barrel.
