Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro - Sony E-mount

This full-frame E-mount lens provides a 1:1 magnification ratio for true macro photography. It features a focus range limiter to improve AF speed when shooting at specific distances and a focus hold button. While primarily designed for close-up work with a 16cm minimum focus distance, its 50mm focal length also serves as a sharp standard prime for general purpose photography. The front element extends significantly during focusing, so we check for any grit or resistance in the barrel movement. We test the focus limiter switch to ensure it correctly restricts the AF range. Used copies should be inspected for dust accumulation behind the front element, and SDS ensures the AF motor operates quietly, as the gear-driven system is louder than Sony’s linear motor alternatives.
