The Sony FE 14mm f/1.8 GM is an ultra-wide prime lens within the premium G Master series. It is notably compact for such a wide and fast lens, weighing only 460g. The optical formula includes two XA (extreme aspherical) elements and one aspherical element to maintain edge-to-edge sharpness and minimise coma, making it a popular choice for astrophotography. It features a rear filter holder, an aperture ring, and a weather-sealed design. Due to the bulbous front element, used copies should be carefully inspected for scratches or chips, as the fixed petal-shaped hood provides limited protection. The rear filter slot should be checked for damage or missing gel templates.
