The Sony DT 35mm f/1.8 SAM is a compact, lightweight 'normal' prime lens designed exclusively for Sony A-mount cameras with APS-C sensors. With an equivalent focal length of approximately 52.5mm, it is an ideal lens for general-purpose photography, street shooting, and portraits. The f/1.8 aperture allows for effective low-light performance and shallow depth-of-field effects, while the Smooth AF Motor (SAM) provides integrated autofocus control. On used copies, the plastic mount should be inspected for any chips or excessive wear that might affect the connection to the camera. SDS checks the internal focusing elements for alignment and ensures the AF/MF switch is crisp. The manual focus ring is narrow and should be tested for any grittiness.
