It features a dedicated aperture ring with a switchable click mechanism, making it suitable for both stills and video. The optical design includes aspherical elements to reduce aberrations and a Zeiss T* coating to manage flare. Check for any signs of decentring, which can occasionally affect this model, leading to soft edges. The aperture ring should click decisively when the switch is engaged. We inspect the large front element for coating scratches and test the AF motor for quiet, accurate locking.
