The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P8 is a 3.2-megapixel compact camera featuring a 3x optical zoom lens and the classic slim, elongated P-series design. It uses a proprietary InfoLithium battery and records to Memory Stick media. The camera offers several scene modes, manual exposure settings, and the ability to record MPEG movie clips. Its metal-faced body provides a more premium feel compared to the lower-tier plastic models in the range.
On a used DSC-P8, the lens cover mechanism can sometimes become stuck or sluggish due to dirt accumulation. The LCD screen is also prone to developing "dead" spots or scratching over time. SDS tests the battery life, as older InfoLithium cells may no longer hold a full charge. We also verify the zoom function and ensure that the camera correctly recognises the Memory Stick media.
