It is distinguished by its 'NightShot' infrared mode, allowing for photography in total darkness, and its ability to accept both Memory Stick and CompactFlash media. The camera offers full manual control and a hot shoe for external flash units.
SDS inspects the DSC-V3 for the common 'black image' sensor failure that affected several Sony CCDs of this era.
