The Macro HSM II is a revised version of Sigma's popular fast telephoto zoom, featuring a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the range. It incorporates Special Low Dispersion (SLD) and Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD) glass elements to minimise chromatic aberrations. While not a true 1:1 macro lens, it offers a close minimum focusing distance of 100cm, making it useful for tight portraits and detail work.
The 'EX' finish on these lenses is prone to peeling or becoming tacky with age; SDS inspects the barrel texture carefully. We also test the HSM autofocus for speed and accuracy, ensuring the internal focus mechanism is quiet.
