This is an earlier version of Sigma's professional-grade f/2.8 telephoto zoom. The APO DG HSM version features a constant aperture, providing excellent low-light performance and shallow depth of field control. The Hyper Sonic Motor allows for fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override. Its optical construction includes SLD glass to correct for chromatic aberrations commonly found in long-range zooms. The matte EX coating on this era of Sigma lens can often show significant cosmetic wear or scratches; SDS assesses this carefully. We also check the zoom action for any 'creep' or stiffness and ensure the internal optical elements are free from fungus. The tripod foot should be checked for secure mounting and that the screw threads are not stripped.
