Nikon F2AS Photomic

The Nikon F2AS Photomic (DP-12) is widely considered the pinnacle of the F2 series. Introduced in 1977, the DP-12 finder uses highly sensitive Silicon Blue Cell (SBC) sensors and a five-stage LED display instead of a needle, making it far superior for low-light metering. It is fully compatible with AI lenses and provides a metering range down to -2 EV. Combined with the F2's rugged, all-mechanical shutter, it represents one of the most capable film cameras ever produced. Used F2AS units are highly sought after, so the condition of the electronics in the DP-12 finder is critical. SDS tests the LED display for brightness and the SBC meter for accuracy across its wide range. We also check the mechanical shutter speeds, ensuring the titanium curtains travel correctly. Common wear points include the AI indexing tab and the integrity of the light seals. As with all F2s, we inspect the prism for any physical damage or desilvering that could affect the viewing experience.
