Nikon AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 - Nikon F Mount

The AF Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 is the original autofocus version of Nikon's popular wide-angle prime, preceding the 'D' version. It offers the same optical formula, including the Close-Range Correction (CRC) system for sharp results at close distances. It provides a wide 84-degree angle of view on full-frame cameras, making it suitable for tight interiors and sweeping landscapes. The lens is built with a mix of high-quality plastics and a metal mount, keeping it very portable. When buying a used copy, the primary check is for the presence of oil on the aperture blades, which can be a common age-related fault. SDS tests the autofocus mechanism to ensure it remains responsive and checks that the manual focus ring engages correctly. Note that this non-D version does not communicate focus distance to the camera for 3D Matrix Metering. The glass should be inspected for internal haze or fungus, particularly in older copies from the late 1980s.
