Mamiya M645J

The Mamiya M645J is a simplified version of the original M645 medium format SLR, designed to be a more accessible entry point into the system. It produces 6x4.5cm negatives on 120 roll film. The 'J' model omits the secondary shutter release and the shutter speed dial lock found on the standard M645 but retains compatibility with the extensive range of M645 lenses, viewfinders, and accessories. It is an excellent choice for photographers wanting high-quality medium format results in a modular SLR package. Inspect the electronic focal-plane shutter for consistent timing; a fresh 6V battery is required for operation. The foam light seals in the film chamber and around the viewfinder mount are common fail points and should be checked for degradation. SDS tests the shutter at all speeds and inspects the mirror stop bracket, which can occasionally crack on these models, leading to focus inaccuracies.
