Mamiya M645

The Mamiya M645 is a medium format SLR camera that produces 6x4.5cm negatives on 120 or 220 roll film. Introduced in the 1970s, it features an electronically controlled focal-plane shutter with speeds up to 1/500s. The modular design supports interchangeable viewfinders and focusing screens, though the film backs are fixed in place, requiring film inserts for loading. It is well-regarded for its robust all-metal construction and compatibility with a vast range of Mamiya Sekor C lenses. When inspecting a used M645, the condition of the light seals around the film door and the mirror bumper is the primary concern, as these often perish. We check the electronic shutter for accuracy across all speeds, as well as the battery compartment for corrosion. The waist-level finder or prism should seat securely, and the internal mirror should be free from desilveration or significant scratches.
