The Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. FLE II is a high-speed wide-angle lens featuring a Floating Lens Element (FLE) system to maintain sharpness across all distances. This 'Close Focus' version improves upon its predecessor with a reduced minimum focus distance of 0.4 metres, achieved via a double-cam mechanism. It retains the eleven-aperture-blade design for smooth bokeh and includes an integrated round lens hood. It is a versatile choice for reportage, providing high contrast and resolution even at its widest aperture. When inspecting a used FLE II, focus should be checked for smoothness across the entire range, particularly as it moves into the close-focus zone which is not coupled to the rangefinder (below 0.7m). SDS verifies the aperture ring for distinct clicks and examines the integrated hood for any stiffness or damage. The optical surfaces are checked for the presence of dust or coating marks, and the lens mount is inspected for significant wear on the 6-bit coding.
