The Leica SL2-S Reporter is a specialised version of the 24-megapixel SL2-S, designed for durability in challenging environments. It replaces the standard leatherette with a rugged Kevlar armour covering and features a discreet forest green scratch-resistant paint finish. Internally, it retains the excellent 24MP BSI CMOS sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilisation, and high-speed video capabilities, making it a versatile tool for both stills and cinematography.
When buying a used Reporter edition, inspect the Kevlar wrap for fraying at the edges, though it is designed to become more textured with use. The green finish is very durable, but check for heavy impacts that might have breached the coating. SDS verifies the IBIS system is silent and effective, and checks the weather-sealing gaskets around the battery and card doors. Ensure the firmware is up to date to take advantage of recent autofocus improvements.
