The Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 ASPH. is an engineering landmark, offering an incredibly wide maximum aperture for extreme low-light performance and shallow depth of field. It utilises two aspherical surfaces and anomalous partial dispersion glass to maintain high resolution despite the ultra-fast speed. The lens is significantly larger and heavier than standard M lenses, featuring a built-in telescopic hood and 6-bit coding as standard. Given the extremely narrow depth of field, used copies must be checked for precise focus alignment. SDS performs tests to ensure the rangefinder coupling is accurate. We also check for any signs of oil on the aperture blades and ensure the focus helicoid moves smoothly without any grit. Because of its weight, the mount should be inspected for excessive wear, and the internal elements are checked for any signs of dust or condensation.
