Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 - Minolta SR/MD/MC
Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.7 is a manual-focus normal prime lens with a fast f/1.7 aperture. This is a compact, all-metal standard lens from Konica’s AR-mount era, valued for its straightforward handling, smooth focusing and classic 50mm perspective on full-frame film bodies or adapted digital cameras. The optical formula is well regarded for balanced sharpness, good central contrast and attractive rendering at everyday apertures, with the usual characterful fall-off wide open before improving as it is stopped down. It suits street, travel, general-purpose photography and anyone wanting a small, bright normal lens with a simple mechanical feel. As a vintage lens, condition matters more than cosmetic wear: check the focus helicoid for smoothness and even resistance, aperture blades for oil or sluggish operation, front and rear glass for haze, fungus, cleaning marks or separation, and the AR mount for wear or corrosion. If adapting it, confirm the mount conversion is secure and that infinity focus is achieved.
