Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/3.5 Macro Focusing Zoom - Canon FD

Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f/3.5 Macro Focusing Zoom is a Canon FD-mount manual-focus macro-zoom lens. This well-regarded Series 1 design is known for its constant f/3.5 aperture, solid all-metal construction and unusually close focusing for a tele zoom, making it more versatile than many ordinary 70-210mm lenses of the era. On Canon FD film bodies it gives a useful portrait-to-telephoto range, with a rendering that many users value for its character and smooth background separation rather than clinical sharpness. Handling is typically straightforward but substantial, with a large focusing ring and zoom action suited to deliberate shooting. As a manual-focus vintage zoom, performance depends heavily on condition, correct adaptation and careful stopping down if maximum edge sharpness is needed. For the used market, check for smooth zoom and focus movement, clean optics, absence of haze, fungus and separation, and ensure the aperture blades are snappy and oil-free.
