Sirui 50mm T2.9 1.6x Anamorphic - Sony FE
Sirui 50mm T2.9 1.6x Anamorphic is a manual-focus cine lens with a 1.6x squeeze for widescreen capture. It is part of Sirui’s budget-friendly anamorphic line, aimed at filmmakers who want oval bokeh, horizontal flare and a distinctly cinematic look without stepping up to much larger professional anamorphic glass. The 50mm focal length gives a natural perspective on mirrorless cameras, while the T2.9 maximum transmission offers a useful balance between light-gathering and manageable size. As an anamorphic lens, the frame is best composed and de-squeezed in post, and the rendering will vary with the camera sensor size and mount version used. Build quality is typically solid for the class, with a fully manual control layout suited to video rigs and controlled shooting rather than fast stills work. Used-market checks should focus on smoothness and evenness of the focus ring, condition of the front and rear elements, signs of haze or fungus, and any play or wear at the mount and filter threads.
