A Sigma SA-mount DSLR featuring a 14-megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor.
The Sigma SD14 is a mid-range digital SLR equipped with a 14-megapixel Foveon X3 sensor. Unlike traditional Bayer sensors, the Foveon technology layers three photodiodes at each pixel site, resulting in superior colour depth and sharpness at low ISO settings. The camera uses the Sigma SA mount and includes a built-in flash, a 2.5-inch LCD, and a dust-reduction system utilizing a removable glass protector.
When inspecting a used SD14, the rear LCD is prone to delamination or 'bleeding' over time. SDS checks the integrity of the sensor's dust protector glass and verifies the operation of the command dials, which can become intermittent. We also ensure the BP-21 battery retains sufficient capacity, as Foveon sensors are demanding on power.
