Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 50mm f/2.8 - LTM
Schneider-Kreuznach Xenar 50mm f/2.8 LTM is a compact manual-focus prime lens for Leica Thread Mount cameras. The Xenar name was used by Schneider for a Tessar-type optical design, so this lens is valued more for its classic rendering and small size than for modern contrast or edge-to-edge correction. On rangefinder bodies it suits everyday street, travel and general-purpose use, with a straightforward 50mm field of view and a modest f/2.8 maximum aperture that keeps the barrel small and the handling light. As an older LTM lens, it is typically fully mechanical, so compatibility and focus accuracy depend on the camera or adapter being used. Image character can vary significantly with copy condition and servicing history, especially with older coatings and helicoids. When buying used, check for smooth focusing, oil-free aperture blades, clean glass, no haze or fungus, and any wear to the LTM mount threads or adapter fit.
