Ricoh XR-X

The Ricoh XR-X, known as the XR-M in North America, is a feature-rich 35mm SLR utilizing the Pentax K-mount. It was highly advanced for its time, featuring an integrated motor drive capable of 3 frames per second, multiple metering modes (spot, centre-weighted, and average), and a top shutter speed of 1/2000th of a second. The camera offers various exposure modes including Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Full Manual, making it a versatile body for K-mount lens users. Common issues with the XR-X include failure of the internal LCD displays and degradation of the motor drive gears. The battery grip (which takes AA batteries) should be checked for corrosion. SDS tests all metering modes for accuracy and ensures the shutter speeds are within tolerance. We also inspect the mirror bumper and light seals, replacing them if they have perished, and verify the electronic communication with K-mount lenses.
