Prakticar 50mm f/1.8 MC Pentacon - Praktica B (PB Mount)
Prakticar 50mm f/1.8 MC is a manual-focus prime lens for Praktica B/PB-mount cameras with a standard 50mm view and a bright f/1.8 aperture. As a normal lens from the late film era, it is compact enough for everyday use yet solidly built, with a metal-bodied feel typical of East German lenses of the period. The multi-coated optical design was aimed at improving flare resistance and contrast compared with older uncoated or single-coated primes, and in practice it is a straightforward general-purpose lens for available-light photography, portraits and subject isolation on full-frame film bodies or adapted digital systems. Focus is manual only, with a close-focus distance of 0.45 m, so handling depends on a smooth focusing action and accurate stop-down use on the host camera. At 220 g it is reasonably portable, and the 49 mm filter thread keeps accessory options simple. Used examples should be checked for smooth focus rotation, clean aperture blades, clear optics, absence of haze or fungus, and intact mount fit with no excessive wear or looseness.
