Pentax Spotmatic SP

The Pentax Spotmatic SP is a classic 35mm SLR and one of the first to feature successful through-the-lens (TTL) metering. It uses the universal M42 screw mount, providing access to a vast range of vintage lenses. The camera is fully mechanical in operation, requiring a battery only for the light meter. Its robust all-metal construction and tactile controls make it a staple for film photography students and traditionalists.
The primary concern with the Spotmatic SP is the light meter, which originally used mercury batteries; modern zinc-air or silver-oxide equivalents are now required. SDS checks the accuracy of the shutter speeds, particularly the slow speeds which can become sluggish. We also inspect the viewfinder for 'desilvering' or dust on the prism and replace perished light seals and mirror bumpers as standard.
