The Olympus PEN E-PL3, or 'PEN Lite', features a 12.1-megapixel Live MOS sensor and a tilting 3-inch LCD screen. It was designed to bridge the gap between compact cameras and larger mirrorless systems, offering a faster autofocus system than its predecessors and Full HD video recording. The lack of a built-in flash is compensated for by the inclusion of an Accessory Port for external units and electronic viewfinders.
On used E-PL3 models, the rear tilting screen ribbon cable should be checked for intermittent connections. The shutter mechanism can occasionally suffer from 'shutter shock' or failure at high shutter counts. SDS tests the sensor for hot pixels and ensures the stabilization system is functioning without error messages. The body finish is prone to minor scratches, so the condition of the metal-effect plastics should be noted.
