Olympus µ 850 SW

The Olympus µ (Mju) 850 SW is a ruggedised 8.0-megapixel digital camera, engineered to be waterproof to 3 metres, shockproof against drops from 1.5 metres, and freezeproof down to -10°C. It features a 3x optical zoom lens and a durable metal exterior. This model is well-suited to hiking, skiing, and snorkeling where a standard compact camera might fail due to environmental exposure. Used 850 SW units often show cosmetic wear on the metal casing, but the primary concern is the integrity of the seals. SDS checks the locking mechanism of the battery door and the condition of the O-rings. We also test the internal zoom mechanism for smooth operation and inspect the front lens element for scratches, as these models are often used without a protective case in abrasive environments.
