Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/2 Ai-S
Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/2 Ai-S is a compact manual-focus portrait lens with a bright f/2 aperture. Built for Nikon F-mount film and full-frame cameras, it is a classic short telephoto that balances strong centre sharpness, pleasing subject separation and a manageable size for everyday use. The Ai-S version is fully mechanical, with smooth focusing and a straightforward aperture ring, making it a good match for photographers who value tactile control and older Nikon bodies. On digital cameras it can still deliver attractive results, but it is best suited to users happy to focus manually and work carefully at wider apertures. Compared with faster 85mm options, it is lighter and more affordable while still offering the flattering perspective that makes 85mm such a popular focal length for portraits. Used examples should be checked for smooth focus action, aperture blade cleanliness and oil, front and rear element scratches, haze, fungus and any signs of impact or excessive mount wear.
