Nikon Nikkor 28mm f/2 Ai-S
Nikon Nikkor 28mm f/2 Ai-S is a manual-focus wide-angle prime with a bright f/2 aperture. Built for Nikon F film bodies and still popular on adapted digital cameras, it offers the classic compact metal-barrel feel of Nikon’s manual-focus era, with a 52 mm filter thread and close focusing to 0.25 m. On full-frame it gives an natural wide perspective suited to street, documentary, travel and general everyday use, with enough speed for available-light work when you want to keep ISO down. Compared with slower 28 mm lenses, the extra stop of light makes framing easier in dim conditions and gives a bit more subject separation, though it remains fundamentally a wide-angle lens rather than a portrait optic. As an Ai-S lens, it has mechanical aperture control and no autofocus or stabilisation, so handling depends on the camera body or adapter rather than electronics. Used buyers should check smooth focus rotation, aperture blade cleanliness, front and rear element condition, internal haze or fungus, and any wear to the mount or filter threads.
