Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/2 Ai

Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/2 Ai is a compact manual-focus prime lens with a classic normal-field-of-view and f/2 speed. Built for Nikon F-mount film bodies, it also works well on full-frame digital cameras and can serve as a lightweight walkaround or learning lens for photographers who prefer direct control over focus and aperture. The Ai version keeps the straightforward mechanical Nikon feel: solid metal construction, a smooth focusing action and a small form factor that balances neatly on most bodies. Optically, it is known as a practical, inexpensive normal lens rather than a standout bokeh specialist, with decent centre sharpness and the familiar rendering of older standard primes. It suits street, travel, documentary and general-purpose shooting where compact size matters more than autofocus convenience. On the used market, check that the aperture blades move cleanly, the focus helicoid is smooth, and there is no haze, fungus or separation in the glass; also inspect the filter ring and mount for wear or impact damage.
