Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S
Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S is a fast manual-focus standard lens with an f/1.2 aperture. Built for Nikon F-mount film cameras, it is prized for its bright viewfinder image, shallow depth of field and classic rendering on full-frame and digital bodies alike. The Ai-S version is entirely mechanical, with a smooth focus throw and a sturdy metal construction that suits deliberate shooting, portrait work and low-light use. At maximum aperture it can look a little soft with visible glow compared with slower 50mm lenses, but stopping down improves contrast and sharpness quickly. It is a compact way to get an ultra-fast normal lens without stepping into modern autofocus glass, and its character is often a bigger part of the appeal than clinical perfection. Used buyers should check the focusing helicoid for smoothness, aperture blades for oil or sluggish movement, front and rear glass for haze, fungus or scratches, and the mount for wear or damage.
