Nikon F-501
Nikon's first mass-market autofocus 35mm SLR with a built-in motor drive.
The Nikon F-501 (N2000 in North America) was Nikon's first successful autofocus SLR for the mass market. It features a built-in motor drive for film advance and a classic design with dedicated dials for shutter speed and exposure compensation. While the autofocus is modest by modern standards, it remains a robust platform for using both AF and manual focus AI-s Nikkor lenses on a film body.
The battery compartment, which typically houses four AAA batteries, should be inspected for historical acid leakage which can damage the internal contacts. The rubberised grip can sometimes become sticky or perish over time. SDS checks the accuracy of the autofocus system and confirms that the film transport and shutter speeds are within factory tolerances.
