Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED

Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 12-24mm f/4G IF-ED is an APS-C ultra-wide zoom with constant f/4 aperture. This lens was one of Nikon’s key early DX optics, giving a dramatic angle of view on DX bodies while remaining compact enough for travel, interiors and landscape work. The AF-S motor provides quiet autofocus and the internal focusing design means the front element does not rotate, which is useful when using filters. Optical construction includes ED glass to help control colour fringing, and the 12-24mm range covers everything from very expansive scenes to a more restrained wide perspective. It is a Nikon F-mount lens made for DX-format cameras only, so it does not provide full-frame coverage. Handling is straightforward, with a solid feel for its class and a 77 mm filter thread that matches many other Nikon pro and enthusiast lenses. On the used market, check that autofocus runs smoothly and quietly, the zoom action is even, the front and rear elements are clear, and there is no haze, fungus or excessive dust. Also inspect the mount, filter threads and barrel for wear from heavy field use.
