Minolta Dynax SPxi

The Minolta Dynax SPxi is an entry-level 35mm AF SLR from the early 1990s xi-series. It features a simplified interface with a focus on 'Expert Intelligence' (xi) automation, which attempts to select the best settings based on the focal length and subject. It uses the Minolta A-mount, making it compatible with a wide range of AF lenses. The camera includes a built-in pop-up flash and several programmed scene modes, aimed at hobbyists transitioning from compact cameras. On the used market, the rubberized grip of the Dynax SPxi often becomes sticky or 'perished' over time, a common issue we inspect for. We test the autofocus drive and the shutter for consistent operation. The electronic contacts in the lens mount should be clean to ensure communication with xi-series power zoom lenses.
