Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM
Canon RF 600mm f/11 IS STM is a full-frame telephoto prime with built-in image stabilisation and STM autofocus. It was designed as a lighter, more affordable way into extreme reach on Canon RF bodies, and its fixed f/11 aperture keeps the lens compact enough for hand-held use compared with traditional 600mm options. The optical approach prioritises portability over speed, so it suits daylight wildlife, distant details and travel shooting where size matters more than background blur or low-light performance. In use, it extends to shooting length and feels surprisingly manageable for a 600mm lens, though the narrow aperture means higher ISO or slower shutter speeds can be expected. The autofocus is generally quiet and practical, and stabilisation helps when working without support, but careful technique still matters at this focal length. Image quality is typically strongest when used within its intended conditions rather than pushed for subject isolation. On the used market, check that the extending barrel moves smoothly and locks properly, autofocus is accurate, stabilisation is quiet and effective, and the front and rear elements are free from haze, fungus, scratches and heavy dust; also inspect the mount and filter thread for wear or impact marks.
