Vivitar 75-205mm f/3.8 - Contax/Yashica
Vivitar 75-205mm f/3.8 is a manual-focus zoom lens with a classic long telephoto range. Exact mount and weight vary by version, so those details cannot be stated confidently without the specific mount markings. As a vintage Vivitar zoom, it is typically aimed at film-era SLR users who want a compact, versatile lens for portraits, sports and distant subjects, rather than modern fast-autofocus work. The constant f/3.8 maximum aperture is reasonably bright for an older zoom of this range, but performance will depend heavily on the individual copy’s condition and optical formula, which could differ between manufacturer variants sold under the Vivitar brand. On the used market, check the focusing action for smoothness, inspect the glass for haze, fungus, scratches and separation, and confirm the aperture blades are clean and stop down correctly. Also verify the rear mount, filter ring and zoom mechanism for wear or play, as these older lenses often show age-related mechanical issues even when optically sound.
