Vivitar 135mm f/3.5 MC - M42
Vivitar 135mm f/3.5 MC M42 is a manual-focus telephoto lens with a 135mm focal length and f/3.5 maximum aperture. This is a classic M42 screw-mount lens, typically used on fully mechanical film SLRs and adapted to many mirrorless cameras today. Vivitar sold many 135mm lenses under its own brand through multiple OEM makers, and the exact optical rendering can vary between production runs, but all versions share the same practical appeal: compact size, straightforward handling and a useful short-telephoto perspective for portraits, street detail and compressed landscapes. Multicoating helps reduce flare compared with older single-coated designs, though performance is still best when the front and rear elements are clean and free from haze. Because it is a fully manual lens, check that the focus ring turns smoothly, the diaphragm blades open and close crisply, and there is no oil on the aperture blades. On the used market, also inspect for fungus, internal dust, scratched coatings and wear to the M42 threads or adapter fit.
