Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 135mm f/4 - DKL
Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 135mm f/4 DKL is a manual-focus telephoto lens with a compact classic build. This Tele-Xenar was made for the DKL bayonet used on certain deckel-mount cameras, so compatibility matters more than almost anything else when buying one used. As a 135mm prime, it gives a straightforward short-telephoto view that suits portraits, detail work and compressed distant subjects, with the simple optical formula and vintage coatings typical of the era. Handling is usually very direct: there is no autofocus, no stabilisation and no electronic communication, so operation depends on a smooth focusing helicoid and a serviceable aperture ring. Optically, these Schneider lenses are valued more for character and usable sharpness than for modern edge-to-edge correction, especially when used on film or adapted to mirrorless bodies with the correct mount solution. Because examples are now old, check the focusing action, aperture blades, front and rear element condition, internal haze, fungus and cleaning marks, and confirm that the DKL mount and any adapter or camera coupling parts are complete and secure.
