Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC - Nikon F
Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC Nikon F is a manual-focus full-frame prime with a fast f/1.4 aperture. It is a large, solidly built lens aimed at photographers who want strong low-light capability and shallow depth of field without paying premium-brand prices. On Nikon F bodies it offers fully manual operation, so focus confirmation and careful technique matter, especially wide open where depth of field is very thin. The optical design is well regarded for good centre sharpness and pleasing contrast once stopped down, with the 35mm focal length suiting street, documentary, landscape and environmental portrait work. As with many fast manual primes of this type, it is not a lightweight walkaround option, and the big front element means it needs a 77 mm filter. Used buyers should check that the focus ring turns smoothly, the aperture blades are clean and snappy, the mount is unworn, and the front and rear elements are free from haze, fungus, scratches or heavy dust.
