Rollei 50mm f/1.8 Planar HFT

Rollei 50mm f/1.8 Planar HFT is a manual-focus prime lens with a fast f/1.8 aperture. This lens is best known as a compact standard lens from the classic Rollei system, using Zeiss Planar optical design and HFT multi-coating for improved contrast and flare control. It is valued for its balanced 50mm perspective, straightforward handling and solid mechanical build, with a smooth focusing ring and aperture control suited to deliberate shooting. As a vintage optic, its appeal is more about rendering and tactile operation than modern convenience, so it suits collectors and photographers using adapted manual-focus setups. Exact mount variants can differ by system version, so compatibility should be checked carefully before purchase. On the used market, inspect the glass for haze, fungus, cleaning marks and separation, and make sure the aperture blades are clean, snappy and oil-free. Also check the focus action for stiffness or play, and verify the mount and filter threads are not damaged.
