Pentacon 30mm f/3.5 Meyer-Optik Lydith - M42

Pentacon 30mm f/3.5 Meyer-Optik Lydith M42 is a manual-focus wide-angle prime lens with a classic vintage look. This exact lens is known for its M42 screw mount and compact all-metal construction, making it a straightforward choice for analogue bodies and adapted digital use. At 30mm it sits between standard and wide-angle, so it is versatile for street, travel and general everyday shooting, with a perspective that feels natural rather than extreme. The f/3.5 maximum aperture is modest by modern standards, but the lens is valued more for character than speed, often appealing to users who want a small, simple optic with a distinctive rendering. As with many older manual lenses, handling is direct and mechanical, with focus set by a smooth helicoid and aperture controlled on the barrel. Exact release year and factory weight are not reliably documented for this specific branding, so they are left unspecified. When buying used, check that focus turns evenly, aperture blades open and close cleanly, and that the glass is free from haze, fungus, separation and heavy cleaning marks; also inspect the M42 threads and rear element for wear or damage.
