The original Olympus Pen is a landmark half-frame 35mm film camera, designed by Yoshihisa Maitani. It produces 72 images on a standard 36-exposure roll by using a 18x24mm frame size. It is a completely manual, viewfinder-based camera equipped with a high-quality 28mm f/3.5 D.Zuiko lens, renowned for its sharpness and pocketable dimensions.
On the second-hand market, the most critical check is the shutter, which can become sluggish at slow speeds. The thumb-wheel film advance should feel smooth rather than gritty.
