The Nikon Coolpix P7700 is a high-end enthusiast compact featuring a large 1/1.7-inch 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor. It is equipped with a bright f/2.0-4.0 lens with a 7.1x optical zoom range (28-200mm equivalent). Unlike its predecessors, it lacks an optical viewfinder in favour of a fully articulated LCD screen. It offers extensive manual controls, including dual command dials and a dedicated exposure compensation dial, catering to advanced photographers.
Check the articulating screen hinge for any looseness or intermittent signal loss. The control dials can sometimes skip values or become unresponsive with heavy use. We inspect the lens for scratches and ensure the internal ND filter functions correctly. The rubber thumb grip is prone to becoming unglued.
