Minolta MD Zoom Rokkor 35-70mm f/3.5

Minolta MD Zoom Rokkor 35-70mm f/3.5 is a manual-focus full-frame standard zoom with a constant f/3.5 aperture. Built for Minolta SR/MD-mount film SLRs, it sits in the classic Rokkor era of sturdy metal construction and smooth mechanical operation, with a useful 35mm wide end and a short telephoto reach that suits everyday shooting. As a vintage zoom, it is best valued for its straightforward handling and distinctive rendering rather than modern convenience: there is no autofocus or stabilisation, so focus and camera support are entirely down to the user. On adapted digital bodies it can still be a handy walk-around range on full-frame, while on smaller sensors the field of view becomes noticeably tighter. Expect older-lens quirks such as flare and contrast loss in strong light compared with modern optics, but also a characterful look that many collectors and film users appreciate. When buying used, check the zoom and focus movement for smoothness, inspect the front and rear elements for haze, fungus, scratches or separation, and make sure the aperture blades are clean and snappy; also look for dented filter threads and mount wear.
